Mark Sr. has been off road racing since the late 1970's.  He began his career driving a   modified Jeep Cherokee in such races as the legendary Mint 400, Frontier 500, Parker 400, Riverside short course and the Baja 500.  Throughout his 8 year campaign from 1978-1986, he raced against some of the biggest names in off road history, like Walker Evans, Rod Hall, Don Adams, Ivan Stewart and Larry Ragland.

During the years following the 1986 season, Mark took some time off to spend with his wife and three children.  He continued some occasional driving/co-driving with Tom Swanson in his Jeep CJ-7 in the Whiplash Desert Series winning 3 straight class three championships.

Next, Mark decided to jump out of the 4x4 category and get into an unlimited class one.  He turned to skilled fabricator and friend Danny Foddrill of Foddrill Fabrication.  He decided to get a state of the art Chenowth Millenium.  Using a 400 horsepower Cadillac Northstar as the powerplant and a Jeff Field's three speed automatic transaxle to put the power to the wheels, Mark's new race vehicle is sure to turn some heads!

Mark Jr.'s interest initially turned toward off road racing when his father purchased him his first quad when he was 11 years old.  When Mark was 18 he rode with Tom Swanson in his CJ-7 and that was all it took for Mark to get he off road addiction.

After high school, Mark attended the University of Arizona.  Throughout his years there, he still had the racing "itch" and helped chase and pit for other teams when he had the extra time.

After college, Mark got married and started his family.  He has two young children who love to go racing.  The future looks bright for Mark Acuna Off Road!!

Mark thought that the only way to get quality seat time was to get his own race car.  Late in 2006, Mark acquired a 2/1600 Mirage.  This class in generally one of the most competitive classes in most organizations.  It is considered a "driver's class" due the strict limits and regulations all vehicles must abide by.  Mark hopes to get quality seat time and learn to read the rough terrain to better help him move up into the class one.
